Yesterday, the Lancer Turbo Register Europe was present at the 56th ELE Rally in and around Best and Son, North Brabant.
Edwin Wils was at the start of the 3rd ELE Historic Rally, together with his navigator Wim Stupers in a Mitsubishi Lancer 2000 EX Turbo, driving the same stages as the participants of the 56th ELE Rally. These stages are therefore at full speed, in contrast to the ELE Legend and other rallies where speed is not a priority.
That the Lancer Turbo and Equipe Wils can still come along well is evident from the data just received from the ELE Rally.
While winner Bob de Jong drove an average of 96 km/h over the tests with an ultra-modern Hyundai, Equippe Wils did 86 km/h. Remember that the Lancer Turbo was developed in 1981 and the Hyundai more than 40 years later. A very good performance!
Unfortunately Equipe Wils had to withdraw due to a nasty crash on FP6 Wintelre-Oerle. This morning we received the message from Edwin that he suffered a damaged vertebra and that Wim escaped with the scare. We wish Edwin a healthy recovery.
